Students complete a survey about their daily lives to determine how much of the earths resources he/she is using. Using this survey they can determine if everyone on earth used as much resources as he / she did how many earths would it take to sustain all the people on earth.

Students will conduct his /her own research in class about a renewable energy of his / her choosing. Students will record information from the internet and also keep track of his /her references to add to their final copy of their poster.
In class students will complete the worksheet about circuits and draw a circuit diagram using the symbols provided. if this is not done in class on 9/29 or 9/30, it becomes homework due 10/ 6 or 10/7. Today students took a quiz to demonstrate their knowledge of the safety rules in the fabrication lab. Also students took a ungraded measuring pre-assessment.
Students played a review game to prepare for the safety quiz they will have next class.
Today, Students were introduced to technology education class, or as I often refer to it: Engineering. We quickly went over fire drill procedures and lock down procedures. Students were then challenged to build a pyramid that is at least 4 cups tall using only string, rubber bands, and coffee stirrers. They were not able to touch the cups with any part of their body. Through this activity students realized the importance of cooperation and teamwork. They also learned the value of varying perspectives. They learned that we learn things from failure, since very few students if any completed this challenge successfully the first time, and that problem solving can be fun.
HW: Bring in a 2 pocket folder for next class. Students are currently creating a poster about a renewable energy source of their choice.
Students brought in their finished trash to treasure projects. Students spent time looking at a filling out critiques about other's projects.
Students started building circuits that are powered by alternate forms of energy. Students can see first hand how these renewable energy sources create electricity. Students have to think about the whys and hows of each circuit build up as they complete the worksheet. |
