Students completed a worksheet as they try to determine which type of bridge would be best to go across a given span on the website: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tech/build-bridge-p1.html Today students were challenged to create a "bridge" that would span a 30 cm gap out of a limited supply of materials in 15 minutes
Students completed creating their 3-D shape that the scaled up or down from its original size. Students also were assigned their take home project. Each student has to pick any object, measure and record all of the dimensions of his/her object, create a proportional object that is scaled up or down from the original object's dimensions. More about this project and the rubric are located attached to the 7th grade calendar. This project is due May 4th or 5th. CORRECTION: The Scale Model Project is now due May 6th or 9th. When students completed scaling their 2-D geometric shapes correctly, pairs of students were given a 3-D geometric shape they then had to measure and scale up or down by a given amount.
